In the latest episode of the Parallel podcast, Koji spoke with Sasha (aka Kalos) and Adrian from the Parallel Team about Wayfinder. If you’ve been with us for a while, you might remember we covered Wayfinder way back in April, so if you need a refresher, be sure to give our original Wayfinder breakdown a read.

Sasha, one of the founders of the Parallel team, and Adrian, head of AI and machine learning, discussed Parallel's evolution from a trading card game to an AI-blockchain ecosystem. The hour-long conversation covered the development of Wayfinder, an AI agents protocol, and its potential impact on how people interact with blockchains moving forward. They explored the PROMPT token ecosystem, the role of AI in gaming and the challenges of building in this nascent space.

Let's dive into the key points 👇

Parallel’s Ecosystem is Evolving

Parallel has expanded from a trading card game (TCG) into a multi-faceted ecosystem including Colony (an AI-driven survival sim) and Wayfinder (an AI agents protocol). These products are synergistically linked: the TCG's 3D asset library powers Colony's visuals, while Wayfinder emerged from Colony's need for AI-driven blockchain interactions. This integrated approach creates a robust ecosystem, potentially increasing overall value for investors interested in AI-blockchain convergence.

The Ultimate Omni-Chain AI Tool: Wayfinder

Wayfinder is an omni-chain tool enabling AI agents to navigate blockchains and execute transactions autonomously. For example, a user could instruct their Wayfinder agent to "Buy 100 USDC worth of ETH on Uniswap and bridge it to Arbitrum." The AI would then handle the entire process - connecting to Uniswap, executing the swap, and bridging the ETH - without further user input. This simplification could drive wider crypto adoption by reducing complexity for users.

Parallel’s Focus on Adaptable AI

Parallel focuses on AI adaptability rather than raw intelligence, prioritizing practical applications. They're developing AI that can efficiently navigate diverse blockchain environments and execute complex tasks. This approach allows for faster development and deployment of useful AI tools, giving Parallel an edge in the rapidly evolving AI-blockchain space. As the field advances, Parallel plans to continually update their AI models to incorporate new capabilities, blockchains and protocols.

Community-Driven Development

Wayfinder incentivizes users to create "Wayfinder paths" - predefined routes for blockchain interactions. For instance, a path might detail the steps to stake tokens in a specific DeFi protocol. Creators earn PROMPT tokens when their paths are used, fostering a growing library of blockchain interactions. This crowdsourced model could lead to rapid ecosystem expansion, potentially increasing Wayfinder's utility and value.

PROMPT Token Ecosystem

PROMPT is Wayfinder's utility and governance token. Users can "cache" (stake) Parallel's PRIME token to earn PROMPT, with 45% of PROMPT's supply distributed this way. Caching involves locking PRIME for 21 days to 3 years, with longer periods offering a multiplier for higher rewards. This mechanism is expected to drive demand for both tokens, but investors should consider the opportunity cost of locking their PRIME and potential price volatility of both tokens. PRIME has been almost down only since the end of March despite the launch of PRIME caching, however, so have most other altcoins, so take that into consideration when looking at the chart (it’s ugly).

Wayfinder Reimagines Blockchain Interactions

Wayfinder aims to simplify complex blockchain operations. For example, setting up a liquidity pool position across multiple chains typically requires understanding various DEXs, bridges, and smart contract interactions. With Wayfinder, users could potentially accomplish this with a single natural language command, dramatically lowering the barrier to engaging with DeFi protocols.

AI Agents in Gaming and Beyond

While Wayfinder's AI agents have clear gaming applications (e.g., automating resource gathering in Colony), their potential extends further. In DeFi, they could manage complex yield farming strategies 24/7. In supply chain management, they could automate tracking and transactions across multiple blockchain networks. This versatility opens up a huge range of applications, and thus, opportunities for both users of Wayfinder and those that create popular paths.

Future Outlook and Risk Awareness

The Parallel team is optimistic about ongoing development but acknowledges risks such as regulatory uncertainties, potential smart contract vulnerabilities, and the challenges of AI development. We are keeping tabs on key milestones for the project, such as the full launch of Colony, Wayfinder's mainnet release, and the activation of PROMPT token utilities.
